National Research Program on Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Valorization

ANPMA conducts an annual call for projects in partnership with the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST) and 12 public universities across Morocco. This program finances research projects aimed at the valorization of medicinal and aromatic plants.

  • Objectives:
    • Foster research on the therapeutic properties of plants.
    • Develop innovative processes for the extraction and formulation of derived products.
    • Promote scientific publication and patent filing.
  • Results:
    • Projects funded since 2018: 61 projects.
    • Scientific Output:
      • Scientific articles: 355 (260 published, 32 submitted, 63 in progress).
      • Scientific presentations: 393 (oral and poster).
      • Patents: 13 (10 filed, 3 published).

Euro-Mediterranean Research Program PRIMA

ANPMA is actively involved in the PRIMA Program (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area), aimed at strengthening research and innovation in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

    • Project: Conservation of Mediterranean Fresh Produce.

PHC Maghreb Research Program

The PHC Maghreb Program (Hubert Curien Partnership) promotes scientific collaborations between Maghreb countries and France. ANPMA has submitted a project for the 2024-2025 period.

  • Project: Nanoformulation of Essential Oils for Skin Repair.
    • Objectives:
      • Develop innovative nanoformulations to enhance the efficacy of essential oils in wound healing.
      • Study the bioavailability and stability of formulations.
      • Test formulations on animal models and in vitro.

Research Projects in Partnership with the Private Sector

ANPMA collaborates with private companies to develop commercial products derived from medicinal and aromatic plants. These partnerships facilitate the transfer of academic research outcomes into industrial applications.

    • Anti-inflammatory dietary supplements: In partnership with a pharmaceutical company, ANPMA developed a range of dietary supplements using plant extracts such as harpagophytum and turmeric.
    • Brightening cosmetic creams: Collaboration with a cosmetic company to create products using licorice and bearberry extracts, known for their brightening properties.
